FALL DETECTION BELT

A device functioning as an airbag to protect the user’s hips in the event of a fall. The product provides Wi-Fi alerts to designated caretakers, along with motion data back to the manufacturer to improve detection algorithms through use of two interconnected micro-controllers.

How PSI Helped:

• Refactored software and firmware to re-mediate dropped Wi-Fi messages and improper execution of alert tones
• Re-engineered micro-controller code to incorporate motion data
• Tested firmware under a variety of wear conditions
• All of the client’s identified issues in the product were resolved, and the system’s reliability exceeds the latest version of the product (developed outside PSI)
