Manufacturing Test Fixture
A company specializing in Auto-ID systems had a problem with a high rate of return on a barcode scanner. The scanner could scan multiple barcodes at a high rate of speed at different angles, and was used in USPS, and other shipping and distribution facilities. The company wanted a lower rate of return and increased productivity, so PSI was requested to develop the software for a test system. The system used a multi-axis set of test barcodes to verify the scanning accuracy and success at multiple angles in the scanner. With the help of the test fixture, the company was able to identify the root problem of the scanner in the mirror system, and the test fixture allowed the supplier to catch the errors in the system.
